600+ websites in my career: what stands behind that number, and what does not

By Luis Gallego

The home page of grafica.group says «600+ sites launched». A number like that on an agency’s site deserves suspicion. So this is what stands behind it, and what it does not prove.

Whose sites they were

The count is mine. It is my career figure, and it includes the restaurant sites I designed on BentoBox from 2018 to 2026, which were never Grafica’s clients.

I founded Grafica in 2012. From 2018 to 2026 I also worked as a senior web designer on BentoBox, a website platform for restaurants and hospitality businesses: restaurant sites, one after another, designed on that platform.

That distinction matters and our site makes it. Under the figure on the home page there is a line saying that the 600+ includes the restaurant sites our founder designed on BentoBox from 2018 to 2026. If you take away one thing from this post, take that: when Grafica says 600+, it is describing its founder’s career, not a client list.

The record

The record is public. The Internet Archive holds more than 1,100 pages saved from my account since 2020. Among them are more than 850 distinct BentoBox sites, counted after collapsing build variants of the same site into one and leaving out archive and placeholder addresses.

Fifteen of them are on our Work page, each opening its capture in the Wayback Machine. Ten of those: Pavyllon London, Wise Sons, Clyde’s, Summer Shack, Sapphire Beach Club, Maty’s, Così, Yates Car Wash, Eucalyptus and Taco Boy. Two of those ten are not restaurants at all. One is a car wash and one is a wellness store with an elixir bar.

What the record does not prove

Three limits, stated plainly.

It does not prove authorship. A capture shows that a page existed and was saved. Their addresses carry the platform’s name, not a designer’s. That I designed them is my own statement. What the record does show is a pattern: build-stage addresses saved from my account repeatedly. One of them was captured fourteen times over five months.

It does not prove a launch. Some captures are of build-stage addresses, not of the business’s own domain. They show a site being built. That it went live rests on my word.

It does not make them Grafica’s. I designed them as an employee, on a platform that is not Grafica’s, for that platform’s customers. Grafica’s own client work is the rest of the Work page, and that list is much shorter.

And the two numbers are not the same thing. The 600+ was on our site before the archive was counted. The count of distinct sites captured came in above it, but a capture is not a launch, so the two do not measure the same thing. The archive is the public record I can point to.

What several hundred sites taught me

Volume by itself is not a qualification. Repetition of the right things is. These are my conclusions, not measurements.

A website is mostly the same few problems. Can a visitor find the hours, the address, the menu, the booking button and the phone number, on a phone, in ten seconds? The industries change. The questions do not. A law firm’s visitor wants the practice areas and a way to call. A lot developer’s buyer wants to know which lots are left.

Accessibility is not a finishing touch. I built hospitality sites to the WCAG standard for years and carried out ADA audits. Accessibility consulting is one of the three services on our listing in Kinsta’s agency directory, and contrast and layout at four widths are checks on our handoff sheet.

A system beats a talent. Nobody designs hundreds of sites from a blank page. You build a kit of parts that are known to work and you spend your attention on what is different about this client. Grafica works the same way: Proto, our own Elementor kit, is behind 40+ career sites for a German consultancy.

The launch is the middle, not the end. A site needs someone looking after it after launch: menus change, hours change, a location opens. Website maintenance is on that same Kinsta listing, beside web design and development.

What it means if you hire Grafica

You get a small company, not a large one. I will not pretend otherwise. The offer on our Agencies page is one implementer on your projects.

What you also get is a company whose founder has designed several hundred sites for businesses whose customers arrive on a phone.
